Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Valencia en Venezuela

The Archdiocese of Valencia en Venezuela (Latin: Valentinus Archidioecesis in Venetiola, Spanish: Archidiócesis de Valencia en Venezuela ) is a location in Venezuela Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Valencia. It includes part of the Venezuelan state of Carabobo.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the bishopric of Valencia en Venezuela on 12 October 1922 with the Apostolic Constitution ad munus of cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela, where there was also a suffragan. On November 12, 1974, was raised to the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums.

Parts of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

  • October 7, 1966 to the bishopric of San Felipe;
  • May 16, 1972 to the bishopric of San Carlos de Venezuela;
  • July 5, 1994 to the bishopric of Puerto Cabello.
