Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Xi’an

The Archdiocese of Xi'an (Latin: Archidioecesis Singanensis; Chinese:西安,长安) is a located in the People's Republic of China diocese of the Roman Catholic Church and Metropolitan seat.

Under Pope Pius IX. was founded on May 21, 1878, Apostolic Vicariate of Scen - Si from the Vicariate of Northern Scen - Shi (陕西 北 境) out. Under Pope Pius X in 1911 was renamed as Apostolic Vicariate of Shensi. On 3 December 1924, the Apostolic Vicariate Sianfu (西安 府) was founded. By Pope Pius XII. was born on April 11, 1946 raised the Vicariate for today's Xi'an,

The archdiocese assigned the suffragans Zhouzhi [盩 厔], Fengxiang [凤翔], Hanzhong [汉中], Sanyuan [三原] and the Yan'an [延安].

Due to the political situation, the archbishopric was after the death of Giulio Pacifico Vanni in 1952, the only one recognized by the Roman Catholic Church Archbishop, until today no longer be filled.
