Roman Catholic Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino

The Diocese of Assisi - Nocera Umbra - Gualdo Cattaneo (Latin: Dioecesis Assisiensis - Nucerinus - Tadinensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Italy, based in Assisi.

It was founded in the 3rd century as the Diocese of Assisi. It was incorporated on 30 September 1986 with the Diocese of Nocera Umbra - Gualdo Cattaneo and since then has the above name. The diocese is a suffragan under the Archdiocese of Perugia - Città della Pieve.

On November 19, 2005 Pope Benedict XVI appointed. Domenico Sorrentino as the new bishop of the diocese. Sorrentino, who had previously been secretary of the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, may continue his previous title of archbishop. It is the successor of Sergio Goretti, whose resignation has been accepted for reasons of age on the same day.

Shortly before the Pope had decreed that the holy places should be withdrawn from the Franciscans in Assisi and in future reports to the bishop.
