Roman Catholic Diocese of Berbérati

The diocese Berbérati (Latin Dioecesis Berberatensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Berbérati in the Central African Republic. It consists of the prefectures Mambéré - Kadéï and Sangha Mbaéré.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Berbérati on May 28, 1940 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate Foumban and Oubangui Chari.

On January 9, 1947, it lost part of its territory to the Prefecture Apostolic of Fort Lamy. With the Apostolic Constitution Cum sollertem whether it was raised on 13 March 1952 Apostolic Vicariate.

The elevation to the bishopric took place on September 14, 1955 with the Apostolic Constitution Dum Tantis. On February 9, 1959, lost part of its territory to the Apostolic Prefecture Bangassou and on February 27, 1978, to the bishopric of Bouar.
