Roman Catholic Diocese of Cape Palmas

The Diocese of Cape Palmas (Latin: Dioecesis palmensis capitis ) is a location in Liberia Roman Catholic diocese based in Cape Palmas. It includes the counties of Grand Gedeh, Grand Kru, Maryland, River Gee and Sinoe.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Cape Palmas with the Apostolic Constitution Ut fidei propagandae on February 2, 1950, cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate of Liberia, where it has been assumed as a suffragan.

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum Ecclesia sit it was raised on May 7, 1962 Apostolic Vicariate. The elevation to the bishopric, which was the archbishopric Monrovia assumed as suffragan, on 19 December 1981 the Apostolic Constitution Patet Ecclesiae.
