Roman Catholic Diocese of Chengdu

Located in China Roman Catholic Diocese of Chengtu and Chengdu (Latin Dioecesis Cemtuanus ) was founded in 1680 as the Apostolic Vicariate of Se - Ciuen, as amended on April 2, 1856 in Apostolic Vicariate of Northwest Sichuan. It changed its name on December 3, 1924 in Chengtu and was raised on April 11, 1946 Diocese. Bishop's seat is the city of Chengdu.

The diocese counted in the year 1950 40.240 Catholics (0.2%) with 73 diocesan priests, 22 religious priests and 88 nuns.
