Roman Catholic Diocese of Suifu

The diocese of Yibin (Latin: Dioecesis Siufuanus ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Yibin in the People's Republic of China.

History

Pope Pius IX. founded the Apostolic Vicariate Südsichuan on January 24, 1860 from annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northwest Sichuan. On August 12, 1910, lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate Kienchang. The name, Apostolic Vicariate Suifu, it took on 3 December 1924.

On 10 July 1929, lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture Yazhou. With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised on April 11, 1946 Diocese. The official bishop of the Patriotic Association, appointed by the government, from 1992 until his death in 2012, John Chen Shi- zhong.
