Roman Catholic Diocese of Daming

The Diocese of Daming ( Taming ) (Latin: Dioecesis Tamimensis, Chinese :天主教 大名 教区) is in the People 's Republic of China located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. It is also known as Handan diocese.

The diocese was founded on March 11, 1935 by Pope Pius XI. established as Apostolic Prefecture of Taming and on 10 July 1947, Pope Pius XII. raised to the bishopric.

The diocese, based in Handan in Daming, is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Beijing. The diocese has 93 priests, and 130,000 Catholics (2009).

Due to the political situation, the diocese could not be occupied until today. Nevertheless, other bishops were from the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association used as last Peter Chen Bolu (1988-1993) and 1993 Stephen Yang Xiangtai. Since 2007, Joseph Sun Jigen is his coadjutor, who was ordained auxiliary bishop in 2011.
