Roman Catholic Diocese of Eshowe
The Diocese of Eshowe (Latin: Dioecesis Eshovensis ) is a location in South Africa, Roman Catholic diocese based in Eshowe.
History
The Diocese of Eshowe was born on August 27, 1921 by Pope Benedict XV. from the Apostolic Vicariate of territory Natal established as Apostolic Prefecture of Zululand. On December 11, 1923, the Apostolic Prefecture of Zululand was by Pope Pius XI. elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate and renamed Vicariate Apostolic of Eshowe.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Eshowe was posted on January 11, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. applicable to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Durban is a suffragan. On November 12, 1962, the Diocese of Eshowe were from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture Ingwavuma.
