Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamhung

The Diocese of Hamhung (Latin: Dioecesis Hameungensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Hamhung, North Korea.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Apostolic Vicariate of Wonsan with the Apostolic Constitution Concreditum Nobis on August 5, 1920 from annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Seoul.

In July 1928, lost parts of its territory to the mission sui juris Ilan and to the Apostolic Prefecture of Yanji in China.

On January 12, 1940, took the name of the Apostolic Vicariate Kanko and still lost another part of the territory of the Territorial Abbey Tokwon.

On 12 July 1950, the name was changed again, because it took the name Apostolic Vicariate of Hamhung. The survey was carried out to the diocese on March 10, 1962, the Apostolic Constitution Fertile Gospel semen.
