Roman Catholic Diocese of Iligan

The Diocese of Iligan (Latin: Dioecesis Iliganensis ) is a location in the Philippines Roman Catholic diocese based in Iligan City. It includes the province of Lanao del Norte.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded the Territorialprälatur Iligan with the Apostolic Constitution Qui in Apostolici on 17 February 1971, cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Ozamiz. The Prelature of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro assumed as suffragan.

A part of its territory lost Territorialprälatur Illigan on November 20, 1976 in favor of the establishment of the Territorialprälatur Marawi. With the bull Cum Decessores the Prelature of 15 November 1982, was raised to the bishopric. This was posted on January 24, 1983 part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Ozamiz.
