Roman Catholic Diocese of Itabira–Fabriciano

The diocese Itabira - Fabriciano (Latin: Dioecesis Itabirensis - Fabriciannensis ) is a location in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Itabira in the state of Minas Gerais.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded the bishopric Itabira with the Apostolic Constitution Haud Inani on June 14, 1965 from annexations of the archdioceses Diamantina and Mariana, where there was also a suffragan.

With the bull Cum urbs vulgo Coronel Fabriciano took it on June 1, 1979 to its present name. A part of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the diocese Guanhães.

The diocese Itabira - Fabriciano includes the municipalities Itabira, Coronel Fabriciano, Alvinópolis, Antônio Dias, Bela Vista de Minas, Belo Oriente, Bom Jesus do Amparo, Dionísio, Ipatinga, do Mato Dentro Itambé, Jaguaraçu, João Monlevade, Marliéria, Mesquita, Nova Era, Passabém, Rio Piracicaba, Santa Maria de Itabira, Santana do Paraíso, São Domingos do Prata, São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo, São José do Goiabal, São Sebastião do Rio Preto and Timóteo of the state of Minas Gerais.
