Coronel Fabriciano

Coronel Fabriciano is a city in the metropolitan region of Vale do Aço (Valley of the steel ) in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. It is 13 km away from Ipatinga and 198 km from Belo Horizonte.
In 2010, about 104,000 people lived in an area of 221.05 km ². The per capita income in 2004 was R $ 3,031.
Coronel Fabriciano lies in the area of the Serra dos Cocais. The church Igreja Matriz de São Sebastião is an important historical building in the city.
History
From Leopoldina moved to 1800 Francisco Franco Rodrigues here. He settled in this uninhabited area and is now regarded as a city founder and first inhabitants of the place. During the 19th century several other families moved into the area and established farms. It developed first settlement structures.
1922, the construction of the railway line Estrada de Ferro Vitória - Minas ( EFVM ) was resumed after being interrupted due to the First World War erupted in 1914. 1929 construction workers built the first church here. 1936 settled the steel company Companhia Siderúrgica Belgo Mineira in Calado, which functioned since 1933 as the seat of county government to chop wood and here from now on to produce charcoal for the blast furnace plant in João Monlevade. As a result, the site grew and received a large number of new roads and a hospital to meet particular to the yellow fever epidemic. Traffic
The construction of the railway line Estrada de Ferro Vitória - Minas ( EFVM ) coming from Vitória, was set at the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 and in 1922 resumed. Since the end of the 1920s working distance was instrumental in the industrial development of the region. On January 29, 1979, the last passenger train ran through Coronal Fabriciano, the railway line was then closed for passenger traffic.
