Roman Catholic Diocese of Itapetininga

The diocese Itapetininga (Latin: Dioecesis Itapetiningensis ) is a location in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Itapetininga in the state of São Paulo.

Territory

The diocese comprises the following municipalities in the Brazilian state of São Paulo: Itapetininga Alambari, Campina do Monte Alegre, Capela do Alto, Cesário Lange, Guareí, Paranapanema, Pilar do Sul, Porangaba, Quadra, São Miguel Arcanjo, Tatuí and Torre de Pedra.

History

The diocese Itapetininga was built on 15 April 1998 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolicum munus of cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Sorocaba and the bishopric Itapeva. It was the Archdiocese of Sorocaba is a suffragan. First bishop was Gorgonio Alves da Encarnação Neto OTheat.
