Roman Catholic Diocese of Itapeva

The diocese Itapeva (Latin: Dioecesis Itapevensis ) is a location in São Paulo, Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Itapeva.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Quantum save bonae on March 2, 1968 from annexations of the dioceses Sorocaba and Botucatu and it became the Archdiocese of São Paulo assumed as suffragan.

Parts of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment:

On 29 April 1992, it was a part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Sorocaba.

The diocese Itapeva includes the municipalities Apiai, Barao de Antonina, Barra do Chapéu, Bom Sucesso de Itararé, Buri, Capão Bonito, Coronel Macedo, Guapiara, Itaberá, Itai, Itaoca, Itapeva, Itapirapuã Paulista, Itaporanga, Itararé, Ribeira, Ribeirão Branco, Ribeirão Grande, Riversul and Taquarituba the State of São Paulo.
