Roman Catholic Diocese of Jeonju

The Diocese of Jeonju (Latin: Dioecesis Ieoniuensis, kor. 천주교 전주 교구 ) is located in South Korea, Roman Catholic diocese based in Jeonju.

History

The Diocese of Jeonju was posted on April 13, 1937 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Quidquid ad Christ of the Apostolic Vicariate of territorial concessions Taiku as Apostolic Prefecture Zenshu. The Apostolic Prefecture Zenshu was renamed on July 12, 1950 in Apostolic Prefecture Chonju. On March 10, 1962, the Vicariate Apostolic of Chonju was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Fertile Gospel to the diocese and renamed Diocese of Jeonju. It was the Archdiocese of Gwangju is a suffragan.
