Roman Catholic Diocese of Kakamega

The diocese of Kakamega (Latin: Dioecesis Kakamegaensis ) is a location in Kenya Roman Catholic diocese based in Kakamega. It includes the districts of Kakamega and Vihiga in Western Province.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded it assumed on 27 February in 1978 of territory of the Diocese of Kisumu and it became the Archdiocese of Nairobi as a suffragan to the Apostolic Constitution Properamus et gestimus.

On April 27, 1987, lost part of its territory to the Diocese of Bungoma. On 21 May 1990, it was part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Kisumu. Since the establishment of the local Ordinary Philip Sulumeti.
