History
The Diocese of Klerksdorp was posted on October 14, 1965 by Pope Paul VI. out of territory of the Diocese of Johannesburg established as Apostolic Prefecture of Western Transvaal.
The Prefecture Apostolic of Western Transvaal was on February 27, 1978 Paul VI. raised to the bishopric and renamed Diocese of Klerksdorp. The Diocese of Klerksdorp was the Archdiocese of Pretoria, is a suffragan. On 5 June 2007, the Diocese of Klerksdorp was the Archbishopric of Johannesburg, is a suffragan
