Roman Catholic Diocese of Lages

The Diocese of Lages (Latin: Dioecesis Lagensis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Lages in the state of Santa Catarina.

History

The Diocese of Lages was posted on January 17, 1927 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Inter praecipuas of cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Florianópolis and this is a suffragan. On 9 December 1933, the Diocese of Lages were from parts of its territory establishing the Territorialprälatur Palmas. For more territorial concessions were made on 14 January 1958 foundation of the diocese Chapecó, on 23 November 1968 on the foundation of the diocese Caçador and on 12 June 1975 on the foundation of the diocese Joaçaba.
