Roman Catholic Diocese of Moosonee

The Diocese of Moosonee (Latin: Dioecesis Musonitanus ) is a location in Canada Roman Catholic diocese based in Moosonee.

History

The Diocese of Moosonee was born on December 3, 1938 by Pope Pius XI. out of territory of the Diocese of Haileybury and the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Ontario established as Apostolic Vicariate of James Bay. The Apostolic Vicariate of James Bay was born on July 13, 1967 by Pope Paul VI. raised to the bishopric of the diocese of Moosonee and renamed. It was the Archdiocese of Keewatin -Le Pas is a suffragan. The Diocese of Moosonee announced on May 31, 2007 from parts of its territory to the Diocese of Amos.
