Roman Catholic Diocese of Mpika
The diocese Mpika (Latin: Dioecesis Mpikaënsis ) is a location in Zambia Roman Catholic diocese based in Mpika.
History
The diocese Mpika was on May 23, 1933 Pope Pius XI. with the apostolic constitution Quae catholico of annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Nyassa and Bangueolo as a mission sui juris Lwangwa built. On 1 July 1937, the mission was sui juris Lwangwa by Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Enascentium Ecclesiarum Apostolic Vicariate. The Apostolic Vicariate of Lwangwa was renamed on March 8, 1951 in Apostolic Vicariate of Abercorn.
On April 25, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Abercorn was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum christiana fides to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Lusaka is a suffragan. On 12 June 1967, the diocese was the Archdiocese of Kasama Abercorn is a suffragan. The Diocese of Abercorn was renamed on November 22, 1967 in Mbala Diocese. On April 26, 1991, the Diocese of Mbala Mbala - bishopric was renamed Mpika. The Diocese of Mbala - Mpika was renamed on September 9, 1994 Diocese of Mpika. On October 29, 2011, the Diocese of Mpika were parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Kabwe.
