Roman Catholic Diocese of Nanyang

The Diocese of Nanyang (Latin: Dioecesis Naniamensis ) is a located in the People's Republic of China Roman Catholic diocese based in Nanyang.

History

Pope Pius IX. founded the Apostolic Vicariate Südhonan on August 28, 1882 from division of the Apostolic Vicariate in northern Honan Honan and Südhonan. On September 21, 1916, the Apostolic Vicariate Südhonan were parts of its territory from establishing the Apostolic Vicariate Osthonan. The Apostolic Vicariate of Südhonan was renamed on December 3, 1924 in Apostolic Vicariate of Nanyang. On 2 March 1933, the Vicariate Apostolic Nanyang gave parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Zhumadian Prefecture.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Nanyang was posted on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Kaifeng is a suffragan.
