Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kaifeng

The Archdiocese of Kaifeng (Latin: Archidioecesis Chaefomensis ) is a Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Kaifeng in the People's Republic of China.

History

Pope Benedict XV. founded with the Breve Summa afficimur laetitia the Apostolic Vicariate Osthenan on September 21, 1916 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate Südhenan and Nordhenan. The name, Apostolic Vicariate of Kaifeng, it took on 3 December 1924. With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised on April 11, 1946 Metropolitanerzbistum.

On 31 August 1989, the secret Bishop John Baptist Liang Xi -sheng was ordained; he died on 23 September 2007 he was succeeded by Bishop Joseph Gao Hong - xiao, OFM, who was ordained on 1 January 2005 as bishop. In 1986 died the official Bishop Stephen He Chun- ming and 7 years later he Stanislaus Han Dao -yi on 23 September 1993 by, who died on 27 October 2000. Since then, the official diocese is without a local Ordinary.
