Roman Catholic Diocese of Nouna

The Diocese of Nouna (Latin: Dioecesis Nunensis ) is located in Burkina Faso Roman Catholic diocese based in Nouna. It comprises the eastern part of the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded with the Apostolic Constitution Ad Evangelizationis on June 12, 1947, the Apostolic Prefecture of Nouna annexations of the Apostolic Prefecture of Gao. It was collected on October 1951 Apostolic Vicariate.

With the bull Dum Tantis it was collected on 15 November 1966 bishopric, which was the Archdiocese of Ouagadougou assumed as suffragan. On April 10, 1962, lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the mission sui juris San

With the decree Apostolicis the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples on 3 December 1975, the Cathedra was of Nouna after Dédougou relocated because of the greater importance of the city and took the name of Nouna - Dédougou. The Church of Sainte Anne was the cathedral of the diocese and the Cathédrale Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours became the Co-Cathedral.

John Paul II told the Apostolic Constitution Grave successoris Petri April 14, 2000, the Diocese of Nouna - Dédougou in the present Diocese of Nouna and the newly erected diocese Dédougou and imputed both the Archdiocese of Bobo-Dioulasso as suffragans.
