Roman Catholic Diocese of Oradea Mare

The Diocese of Oradea Mare (Latin: Magnovaradinensis Latinorum ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Romania.

History

As a Latin bishopric Magnovaradinensis Latinorum it was founded in 1077. Its first bishop was Bishop Koloman in 1091. On June 5, 1930, Pope Pius XI. was the Diocese of Oradea Mare - Gran Varadino ( German: Oradea ), (Hungarian: Nagyvarad ) with the Diocese of Satu Mare ( German and Yiddish: Satu Mare, Hungarian: Szatmárnémeti ) combined.
