Roman Catholic Diocese of Owando

The Diocese of Owando (Latin: Dioecesis Ouandoensis ) is a location in the Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic diocese based in Owando.

History

The Diocese of Owando was on December 21, 1950 by Pope Pius XII. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Brazzaville built as Apostolic Vicariate of Fort - Rousset. On September 14, 1955, the Vicariate Apostolic of Fort - Rousset was Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Dum Tantis to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Brazzaville is a suffragan. The Diocese of Fort - Rousset was renamed on December 3, 1977 in the diocese of Owando. The Diocese of Owando announced on June 6, 1983 from parts of its territory to the foundation of the diocese Ouesso. A part of its territory lost it on February 22, 2013 in favor of the establishment of the diocese Gamboma.
