Roman Catholic Diocese of Paracatu

The diocese Paracatu (Latin: Dioecesis Paracatuensis ) is a location in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Paracatu in the state of Minas Gerais. It covers the northwestern part of the state.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Territorialprälatur Paracatu on 1 March 1929 with the Apostolic Constitution Pro munere sibi divinitus of annexations of the dioceses Montes Claros and Uberaba and became the Archdiocese of Diamantina is a suffragan. A part of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the diocese Januaria.

With the bull Navis gubernationis it was raised on 14 April 1962 and became part of the diocese of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Archdiocese of Uberaba. On it was on October 11, 1966 part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Brasília and on 25 April 2001 of the Archdiocese of Montes Claros.
