Roman Catholic Diocese of Pasto

The Diocese of Pasto (Latin: Dioecesis Pastopolitanus, Spanish: diócesis de Pasto ) is a diocese located in Colombia of the Roman Catholic church located in San Juan de Pasto, capital of Nariño in southwestern Colombia.

History

The Diocese of Buga was April 10, 1859 by Pope Pius IX. built from the former diocese of Popayán out. In 1927, the founder of cessions of territory of the Diocese of Pasto and the then Diocese of Cali, the then Tumaco Prefecture. 1964, the diocese was founded Ipiales from a new field assignment.

It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Popayán.
