Roman Catholic Diocese of Petrópolis

The Diocese of Petrópolis (Latin: Dioecesis Petropolitanus ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Petrópolis in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

History

The Diocese of Petrópolis was founded on April 13, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Pastoralis qua urgemur of annexations of Barra do Pirai dioceses and Niterói and the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro is a suffragan. On March 26, 1960, the Diocese of Petrópolis were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Nova Friburgo. The Diocese of Petrópolis was placed under the Archdiocese of Niterói, suffragan of March 26, 1960. On February 15, 1964, the Diocese of Petrópolis were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Floresta.
