Roman Catholic Diocese of Roraima

The Diocese of Roraima (Latin: Dioecesis Roraimensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Brazil, based in Boa Vista in the state of Roraima.

History

The Diocese of Roraima was born on August 30, 1944 by Pope Pius XII. built as Territorialprälatur Rio Branco and the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará assumed as suffragan. On 29 April 1963, the Territorialprälatur Rio Branco was renamed Territorialprälatur Roraima and the Archdiocese of Manaus assumed as suffragan.

The Territorialprälatur Roraima was elevated by Pope John Paul II on October 16, 1979 to the diocese.
