Roman Catholic Diocese of San José de Mayo

The Diocese of San Jose de Mayo (Latin: Sancti Dioecesis Iosephi in Uraquaria ) is a Roman Catholic suffragan in Uruguay. Diocesan Bishop Arturo Eduardo Fajardo Bustamante.

History

The diocese was founded on November 15, 1955 from the diocese area of Montevideo and Salto. On December 17, 1960 and November 25, 1961 subregions of the Diocese of San José de Mayo establishing the dioceses of Mercedes and Canelones were provided. In the diocese of 85,000 Roman Catholics are located in eleven parishes. Pastoral care they are fourteen diocesan priests and priests. In the care of the Roman Catholic Christians eleven friars and twenty nuns are involved. The diocese is under church law the Archdiocese of Montevideo.
