Roman Šimíček

Roman Šimíček (* November 4, 1971 in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player standing since 2010 with GKS Tychy in Poland Ekstraliga under contract.

Career

Roman Šimíček began his career as a hockey player in his hometown when HC Vitkovice, for the first team he played from 1989 to 1998, first in the highest Czechoslovak league, as well as from the 1993/94 season in the neugegegründeten Czech Extraliga. With Vitkovice the attacker failed in the 1996/97 season in the play-off final of the Championship on HC Petra Vsetín. In the summer of 1998, the Czech moved for the first time abroad in Europe, where he stood for the HPK Hämeenlinna in the Finnish SM- liiga in the following two years on the ice.

In the NHL Entry Draft 2000 Šimíček was selected in the ninth round as total 273 players from the Pittsburgh Penguins. For the Americans, he scored in 29 games in the National Hockey League three goals and gave six assists. On January 13, 2001, he was released in exchange for Steve McKenna to the Minnesota Wild, for which he ran aground in the following one and a half years, where he mainly used in the 2001/ 02 season for their farm team, the Houston Aeros in the American Hockey League was used. The 2002/03 season began when the Czech HIFK Helsinki in Finland and finished it at HC Sparta Prague in the Extraliga. After one and a half years of the links Sagittarius left the locals and signed with his former club HC Vitkovice Steel at which he stood until 2009 under contract. For the season 2009/10, the world champion was committed by HC Dukla Trenčín of 1999 of the Slovak Extraliga.

For the 2011/12 season Šimíček moved to GKS Tychy from the Polish Playoff Final. With the team he immediately became runner-up.

Internationally

For Šimíček Czech Republic took part in the World Championships in 1997 and 1999.
