Romanian general election, 1992
The presidential elections in Romania in 1992 took place on 27 September and 11 October 1992. In the first round Ion Iliescu received from the " Democratic Front for the National Salvation " ( FDSN, today PSD) and Emil Constantinescu, the candidate of the " Democratic Convention " - a larger middle-class party alliance - the most votes. In the run- up Iliescu won out against Constantinescu.
First ballot on September 27, 1992

- Valid votes: 11,908,015
Second round of elections on October 11, 1992
- Eligible voters: 16,597,508
- Votes cast: 12,150,728 ( 73.2 %)
- Valid votes: 12,034,636
