Ron Geesin

Ron Geesin (* 1943 in Ayrshire ) is a British sound artist, multi-instrumentalist and designers. He is best known for his work on Pink Floyd album Atom Heart Mother (1970).

Career

Geesin began in 1962 with the Banjo game. The banjo remained his main instrument. In addition, he worked mainly with loops, which he won with for that time sophisticated cutting technology, from old tapes. After his debut album A raise of eyebrows (1967 ), he launched his own label Head Scope, one of the first one-man label at all. His music included funny samples and instrument combinations and is therefore above all to settle in the psychedelic music.

1969 Geesin worked with his golf partner Roger Waters together on a soundtrack for the Pop Art Film "The Body ", in which it came to the growth rate of hair, among other things. Accordingly, it was on the soundtrack of the two is a very psychedelic blend of body sounds, banjo and cello sounds and Waters ' acoustic guitar.

In the aftermath Geesin worked with Pink Floyd on the Atom Heart Mother suite, which appeared in 1970 on the eponymous album.

After a few more albums integrated Geesin 1990 on the albums Funny Frown and Bluefuse modern technology, such as samplers in his work, but still mainly consisted of found sound.

Because of his interest in video installations he created together with Ian Breakwell in the 1990s, a large video installation called Auditorium.
