Ron Leshem

Ron Leshem ( born December 20, 1976 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli writer and journalist.

Life

As a child, Ron Leshem occurred in different Israeli television shows. His military service he performed in a unit of the intelligence service. Between 1998 and 2002, Leshem worked as an editorial member of the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported for news and magazines about the Al -Aqsa Intifada. In December 2002, Leshem joined the newspaper Maariw, where he worked as deputy editor and head of the news department. Work

In 2005, Leshem published the novel If there is a paradise ( original title: In Jesh gan eden ), which was awarded the Sapir Prize for Literature and the Yitzhak Sadeh Prize for Military - literature. "If there is a paradise " is about the lives of Israeli soldiers on the military base Beaufort in southern Lebanon, a short time before the withdrawal of the army of the former fortress in 2000. The book was filmed two years later under the name " Beaufort " directed by Joseph Cedar. The film " Beaufort " has received international recognition and was awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlinale 2007. He was also nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for "Best Foreign Film " and received four awards at the Israeli Film Award Ophir. 2011 the book was adapted for the theater and premiered at the Habima Theatre in Tel Aviv.

In 2009 they had Leshems second book The Secret Bazaar ( Original title: Megilat zchujot hajareach ), in which he writes about the wild life of young people in Tehran, which also became a bestseller.
