Ronaldo Puno

Ronaldo Puno Villanueva ( born April 25, 1948 in Manila ) is a Filipino politician.

Biography

His father Ricardo Puno was from 1979 to 1984 and Minister of Justice from 1984 to 1986 Member of the Congress ( Batasang Pambansa ).

After visiting the Elementary School of the Ateneo de Manila University and the High School of the Manuel L. Quezon University, he studied from 1964 to 1968 Political Science at the Ateneo de Manila University and finished them with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Political Science ).

After graduating, he joined the private sector and was initially an administrative employee at Rubicon Inc., the management company of Philippine Airlines and then from August 1969 to June 1972 President of Investment Services Inc.. During this time he was in 1970 and founder of the Metropolitan Stock Exchange Inc., and from July 1971 to June 1974 President of Alpha Electro Systems Inc..

Then he went in July 1974 in the civil service and was until May 1982 as Assistant to the Minister ( Assistant Secretary ) time as program director for the barangays and Senior Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Minister of Local Government and Community Development ( Department of Local Government and Community Development, DLGCD ) active. In this he was also from 1975 to 1976 head of the audit department.

From May 1982 to June 1986 was Assistant to the Minister of Transport and Communications (Ministry of Transportation and Communication, DTC). In 1998 he was first briefly Chairman of the local autonomy movement (Local Autonomy Movement of the Philippines Inc.), before he was allowed following first from July 1998 to April 1999 Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government.

In April 1999 he was finally appointed by President Joseph Estrada himself as Minister of the Interior and Local Government ( Secretary of Interior and Local Government ) and belonged to his cabinet until January 2000.

After that, he returned again to the private sector and 2000 was not only chairman of the North River Mountain Ranch and the Micron Public Affairs Company, but in 2001 also Chairman of Pacific Sunrise International Holdings Inc..

In 2004 he was elected a deputy of the House of Representatives of the Philippines and represented there until 2006 as chairman of the party KAMPI ( Kabalikat ng Pilipino Mala Yang ) the interests of the constituency I ( 1st District ) of Antipolo City. Successor in this constituency in congressional elections in 2007 Roberto Puno.

On 5 February 2006, he was appointed by President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo as Minister of the Interior and Local Government again in a government and a part of the Cabinet on since then.
