Rondout Light is a lighthouse on the west bank of the Hudson River, at the mouth of the Rondout Creek in Kingston in the U.S. state of New York.

Designation

The official name in the United States Coast Guard Light List is Rondout Creek Leading Light. The National Register of Historic Places, the building was under the name Kingston / Rondout Lighthouse entered 2. This name dates back to the order in the series of beacons and beacons in the Rondout Creek. Number 2 is the first signal on the right side of the river towards the source. The United States Coast Guard website that the history of navigation in the United States dedicated to is referred to the plant as Rondout Creek ( Kingston) Light.

History

When the lighthouse was taken in 1915 in operation, he took the place of an operations building from the year 1867. The National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act ensured that the United States Coast Guard had to put some of their equipment out of service and or to non-profit organizations of monuments municipal authorities had transferred. In a pilot project in 2001 nine Leuchttürm were privatized in this way by means of tendering and assessment of tenders in the fall. The Rondout Light was one of nine plants. To the new owner of the Rondout Light was 2002, the City of Kingston. It is currently used by the nonprofit Hudson River Maritime Museum.

The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 29, 1979.
