Rönnöfors

Rönnöfors is a cluster of houses in the historical Swedish province of Jämtland County Jämtland County today. The village is located about 80 kilometers northwest of Östersund in the parish Offerdal in the community Krokom.

Rönnöfors located in the northern part of Offerdal, in the immediate vicinity of the Scandinavian mountains ( Oldfjällen ) and was inhabited until the 18th century. Among the famous mountains nearby include Oldklumpen, Ansätten and Önrun.

Near Rönnöfors there since about the early Middle Ages a Sami population, especially in the villages Jänsmässholmen, Olden and Frankrike.

In the 19th century there were in Rönnöfors a significant mining and at the beginning of the 20th century was, among other things the church built. The mine ruins can still be seen. In Rönnöfors is a green quartzite, Offerdalsskiffer degraded.
