Bathymaster signatus

The Ronquils ( Bathymasteridae ) family is one of the Aalmutterverwandten ( Zoarcales ). The seven species from three genera living on the coasts of the North Pacific at depths above 150 meters.

Features

The fish have the typical Aalmutterverwandte elongated body. Their dorsal fin and anal fin are long with 41 to 48 or 30 to 36 fin rays. The pectoral fins large and rounded, the caudal fin is rounded. The lateral line is high, close to the back line. The swim bladder is absent. The largest species Bathymaster signatus is 38 inches long.
