Gonggrijp one of the founders of the hacker magazine Hack- Tic, which was published in Amsterdam after the model of the German Datenschleuder 1989-1994. In 2005, he appeared as a hacker conference organizer of the What The Hack in the Dutch Liempde at Boxtel on. He was represented in 1988 on the fifth Chaos Communication Congress of the Chaos Computer Club. After he had been held there in 2005 a lecture he gave in 2010 the opening speech. Entrepreneurial activity

1993 emerged the creation of XS4ALL, one of the first Internet service provider in the Netherlands from Hack- Tic. The company was sold to the KPN 1998. Gonggrijp founded in 1997 itsX, one company for security in information technology, it sold again in 2006 and worked from 2001 to the encryption of mobile telephony, which two years later led to the founding of the Berlin GMSK Cryptophone that sells secure communications medium.

Presumably because of this work was Rop Gonggrijp early 2011, one of the affected one ultimately successful in November of the year attempt by the U.S. government to obtain personal information about him from Twitter by means of a subpoena.

Awards

In the Dutch Big Brother Awards 2010 in Amsterdam Gonggrijp was awarded in March 2011 for its commitment to the protection of privacy and freedom in the digital age with the positive price Winston Award.
