Rosenheim–Kufstein railway

The railway line Rosenheim - Kufstein is a two-track, electrified main line in Bavaria. It combines Rosenheim Kufstein.

History

A treaty between Austria and Bavaria from June 21, 1851 regulated the terminal to be built in the two countries railways together. Since that time between Vienna and Tyrol was no direct rail service, it was agreed in Article 1, to build on the Bavarian side a railway line from Munich to the border near Salzburg and a railway line from Rosenheim to the Tyrolean border at Kufstein. Austria committed itself to in Article 2 to the construction of a railroad from Salzburg to Bruck an der Mur and from Kufstein to Innsbruck. This line was opened on 5 August 1858 by Rosenheim up to the state line.

Route description

Traffic

The route is part of the northern inlet to the burner train to Italy and thus part of the railway axis Berlin- Palermo. The travel time between Rosenheim and Kufstein limit is 15 minutes without stopping, due to repeatedly existing temporary speed restrictions a longer driving time is usually calculated.

There is an hourly regional train traffic to Innsbruck, which is broken in Kufstein again since the timetable change in 2009. In the two- hour circulating Euro City (EC) trains operating on the route via Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass to Italy.

The Austrian Federal Railway is running on the track Rosenheim Kufstein south without stopping at long-distance trains relation Vienna -Salzburg -Innsbruck- Vorarlberg. Between Salzburg and Innsbruck operate alternately EC and RJ trains every hour 6-23 clock (Salzburg -Innsbruck ) or 5 and 21 clock ( Innsbruck and Salzburg, as of 2011). At present here, at 32 timetabled corridor trains in passenger transport ( 2009).

Extension

Over a four-tracked expansion of the section of Rosenheim direction Kufstein is always thought to be the expected increase in traffic after the opening of the Brenner base tunnel needs. Further expansion plans include a high -pass route around Rosenheim, branching off at Grosskarolinenfeld from the main line and at Brann castle to meet them again. Talking is also a cross-border tunnel ( black tunnel), which could take leave at the village of Oberau KBS 950 and again behind Kufstein on the local Austrian extension of the line ( New Unterinntalbahn ).

In the absence of specific funding opportunities are currently mainly smaller expansion projects underway. These include, in addition to the elimination of level crossings (most recently in Flint creek and Brann castle ) and the long-range installation of noise barriers, especially in the municipalities of verkehrlich already heavily loaded Inn Valley.
