Rosetta (Band)

Rosetta is an American post-metal band from Philadelphia. Although members balk at the notion of post- Metals, they take in this young genre a leading role.

History

The members of Rosetta already knew each other in high school and played in various bands before. In virtually the last minute, they decided on 20 August 2003 together to play a concert that she, after only three rehearsals, impromptu forced. After that, she decided to write more songs playing shows and eventually record their first demo, in which they released four songs. This drew the attention of the label Translation Loss Records on itself, which took them under contract. Their first album The Galileian Satellites from the year 2005, for a debut album, a hugely ambitious project Represents the album consists of two separate discs, one with more metal - oriented sounds, the other with ambient sound. The two CDs are designed so that they can be played in parallel with each other, thus combining. Initially planned as a disc, but so much material has been generated, that the band could fill two recordings. Rosetta's second release Project Mercury was a split EP with Balboa, issued on 24 April 2007. According to a U.S. tour in July, appeared on 2 October 2007, the second album Wake / Lift, again under Translation Loss. Along with an additional U.S. tour, the Americans toured in June 2008 for the first time by Australia. In 2009 they had another three-part split EP on vinyl with Year of No Light and East of the Wall. Your current third album A Determinism of Morality came out on 25 May 2010 and was recorded by Andrew Schneider.

However, asked about it, they distance themselves from both the term post as well as from the metal genre in itself. In general, they reject any categorization of their music. Musically, many of Rosetta's compositions are based on typical genre musical tapestry of electric guitar, bass and drums and the change from quiet / silent in intense / loud passages.
