The station Rotenburg (Wümme ) is a through station the station category 4 on the railway line Hamburg -Bremen and the Weser -Aller -Bahn from Minden to Rotenburg. It is located north of the center of the Lower Saxon district town of Rotenburg ( Wümme).

History

The station was opened in 1874 at the Hamburg- Bremen. Between 1906 and 1928 the railway lines to Bremervörde and Walsrode ( Walsrode railway Bremervörde ) and Minden were opened. In 1958, the connection to Walsrode was shut down for the passenger, the northern connection to Bremervörde followed in 1969. During this, however, operated sporadically in freight transport, the southern branch line in 2005 was completely shut down, the port switch was broken. 1984, the station was extensively rebuilt.

Plant

The scale in east-west direction of the station has a main platform (track 6) located at the southern entrance building and one island platform ( tracks 4 and 5).

In the western railway station ahead of the freight station was and are still sidings. To the south are the park - and-ride parking. By 2009, the station environment was rebuilt and demolished the existing station building. This was replaced by a smaller building with ticket sales and a kiosk. In addition, a central bus station was built and erected a large covered bike racks. The station is built barrier-free since 2007.

Operation

The station is served exclusively by regional trains. The route to Bremen and Hamburg is served by metronome metronome and regional trains in the overlapping hour. This results in both cities, an approximate half hour (→ Hanseatic network).
