The Rother tip is a 710.6 m above sea level. NHN high mountain spur at Ostabfall Lange Rhön in the Bavarian district Rhön- grave field.

Geographical location

The Rother dome rises in the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park east of the nature reserve and Lange Rhön approximately 1.35 km southwest of the village of Roth ( south-western district of Oberhausen). It is situated in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve.

At about 1 km east of the knoll located Rother Rother mountain near the street Roth of the Rother knoll stands the Justusbrunnen as a monument to the founder of the Rhön clubs, Dr. Justus Schneider. Near this fountain of Silver Lake is located in a former basalt quarry.

Description

At the Rother tip passes a winding county road, the NES 11, of Roth about west toward Hochrhönstraße. From this road a short, steep driveway leads to a parking lot, which is on the summit region.

There stands the Tower restaurant Rother top of the Rhön clubs Nordheim, which is open all year. Attached to the Inn is an observation tower, from which a wide panoramic view of the Long Rhön ( Heidelstein, Thuringian hut), in the Thuringian Rhön ( Gebaberg, Dolmar, Hutsberg, Neuberg ), the Thuringian Forest ( Big Island Mountain ) and the grave field ( Ostheim the Rhön, Gleichberge ) is possible.

On the southeast slope of the knoll Rother is the Rhön Park Hotel.

The northeast flank of the mountain is forested, south-west of the summit there is a large lawn with old houses, one of which is 7.8 m circumference (waist ) the thickest of the Rhön. The tree, however, has suffered greatly from the hurricane Kyrill. Some main branches are broken.

Geology

The Rother tip is a angeschnittener basalt body on Upper Muschelkalk.

Every last Sunday of June there will be a hard mountain to the summit Rother.
