Ruben Östlund

Claes Ruben Östlund Olle ( born April 13, 1974 in Styrsö, Västra Götaland County, Sweden) is a Swedish film director and screenwriter.

Life

After Ruben Östlund produced in the early 1990s some ski movies, he decided in 1998 to enroll at the högskolan för Fotografi och film in Gothenburg for a three -year degree, which he completed in 2001. Apart from individual short films and documentaries, he published in 2004 with Gitarrmongot his first feature film. In order to realize this film, he sat on amateur actors. With the exception of Maria Lundqvist only amateurs were also in his second feature film De ofrivilliga of 2008, for which he won Best Director and Best Screenplay one Guldbaggen nomination in the categories in use.

Last Östlund has released play his third feature film. Again he worked with non-actors, which tells the story of an African underclass gang which steals through dubious tricks white middle-class children. When the film was released in Sweden, Östlund was exposed almost daily racist accusations. But international critics at film festivals such as the International Film Festival of Cannes 2011, or the Tromsø saw the movie Internasjonale Film Festival, were of the opinion that skillfully with the racist prejudices of movie games, and praised the film throughout. While the film among others in Tromsø won the Audience Award and the Peace Prize, Östlund received an award for Best Director at the Swedish Film Award Guldbagge.

He is currently planning a film about a tourist who is confronted with an avalanche.
