Ordinary (Rudbeckia fulgida var sullivantii ' Gold Rush ')

The Ordinary (Rudbeckia fulgida ), also called Shining Coneflower, is a species within the genus Rudbeckia (Rudbeckia ) in the family Asteraceae (Asteraceae).

Description

The Ordinary coneflower is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches the plant height of 60 to 100 centimeters. The plant forms short underground runners ( stolons ) at the ends of which are evergreen rosettes. The stems grow branched. Stems and leaves are glabrous to hairy pressed, but not very rough or protruding bristly stinging. The change-constant leaves are simple; they are arranged in basal rosettes and along the upright stems. The leaf margins are smooth or serrated. The basal leaves are three annoying ( rarely up to five annoying ), ovate - lanceolate and serrated away. The stem leaves are sessile, semi amplexicaul, perforated and three annoying.

The golden yellow, basket- shaped inflorescence with dark brown center reminiscent of a wide-brimmed hat. The flower heads have a diameter of up to 7 centimeters and are usually solitary, or in pairs to seventh on the stems. The chaff leaf tips are not sticky gray -haired. The inflorescence soil is highly arched. Containing 10 to 15 tongue (ray flowers) and from 50 to over 500 tubular flowers ( disc florets ). The ray florets are 15 to 40 millimeters long, 3 to 6 mm and yellow to orange. The florets have a length of 12 to 16 millimeters and a diameter of 10 to 18 mm. The style branches are about 1.3 millimeters long.

Containing 2.2 to 4 millimeters large achenes have a small ( 0.2 mm), crown -like pappus.

The flowering period extends from August to October.

Occurrence

The Ordinary sun comes up in the warm temperate eastern U.S. in moist, open forests, sedge meadows, marshes and river banks Kalkquellfluren ago.
