Rüdiger Bohn

Rüdiger Bohn (* 1960 in Lübeck ) is a German conductor.

Life

He gained particular in the field of contemporary music international reputation. He is the musical director and co-founder of the Contemporary Opera Berlin, principal guest conductor of the ensemble TIMF in Korea and professor of conducting at the Robert -Schumann-Hochschule Dusseldorf. He received his artistic training in piano and conducting at the conservatories of Cologne and Dusseldorf. He completed two courses with honors. He won several international chamber music competitions, for example in Florence and in Bordeaux, and appeared regularly as a concert pianist before he, encouraged by master classes with Leonard Bernstein, Sergiu Celibidache and Sir John Eliot Gardiner, for conducting career decision.

As musical assistant at Brussels Théâtre de la Monnaie Bohn gained his first experience in a new job and was then engaged as Kapellmeister at the Theater Basel. From 1997 to 2002 he was principal conductor at the Theater Lübeck. Guest conducting engagements have taken him to the opera houses of Darmstadt, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Nancy. As part of his international concert career he has conducted the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Genève, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestre Symphonique de Radio - Luxembourg, the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI in Rome and Turin, the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Korean Symphony. Concert tours have taken him to Italy, France, Spain, Korea, the USA and Canada.

From 1997 to 2007, Rüdiger Bohn Music Director of the Contemporary Opera Berlin. Here he conducted all previous productions of works by Hans Werner Henze, Mauricio Kagel, Giorgio Battistelli, Morton Feldman, Aribert Reimann, Qu Xiao-song, Adriana Hölszky, Frank Martin, Salvatore Sciarrino, Peter Maxwell Davies and Wolfgang Rihm. Most recently he has Hans Zender's opera " Don Quixote" as a co-production with the Komische Oper Berlin.

Appearances at the Munich Biennale, Warsaw Autumn, the festival WhyNote in Dijon with the sound Forum Vienna and the Salzburg Festival quickly followed. In addition, Rüdiger Bohn conducted as part of the Musica Viva concerts in Munich, at the International Summer Courses for New Music and the UltraSchall Festival Berlin. There are invitations from the Philharmonia Orchestra in London and the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rüdiger Bohn 1982 is now musical director of EWCM - European Workshop for Contemporary Music. He is a professor of conducting at the Robert -Schumann-Hochschule
