The Rudolf Tonn Stadium (also sports center Schwechat) is an Austrian football stadium in Rannersdorf, a suburb of Schwechat. It is since its completion in 1980, the home of SV Schwechat in the Regional League East and will be used for athletics events.

General

The stadium has 2,608 seats being with the standing room a total capacity of around 7,000 visitors is achieved. It was named in 2001 after the former mayor Rudolf Schwechater Tonn. The construction of the stadium was the construction of the East motorway (A4 ) are required. The new stadium was then planned by the architect Josef Alois Hums and Seliger, both led together since 1973, an architectural firm in Schwechat. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 6, 1977 by Rudolf Tonn, the construction work lasted until 1980. The construction costs amounted to 11.7 million euros and was financed entirely by the public sector. The four floodlight towers have a height of 40 meters.

The stadium was inaugurated on 24 May 1980 with the play of the 1st Division against Austria Vienna ( 3-0) before 7,700 visitors in the presence of personalities such as Kurt Heller, Karl Blecha, Heinz Krendl and Wolfgang Röken. The SV Schwechat itself was only 1985/86 to play professional football, at least in the 2nd Division here. At Pentecost 1991, the stadium by the highly water-bearing Schwechat, which flows next to the stadium, damaged and repaired.

As there on 12 June 2003, the opportunity in the relegation match against the SpG Wattens Wacker Tirol to return to this league, a new audience record was set with 8,500 visitors, the game ended 3-2 for the Tyrol. In addition to football games and the Austrian Football League will be held at the Rudolf Tonn Stadium.
