Rudolf Wegscheider

Rudolf Franz Johann Wegscheider ( born October 8, 1859 in Großbetschkerek, Banat, † January 8, 1935 in Vienna) was an Austrian chemist.

Life and work

Rudolf Wegscheider was born the son of the imperial county commissioner Johann Wegscheider and his wife Mary Plank. He studied chemistry and was one of the founders of physical chemistry in Austria. From 1902 to 1931 he held a chair in Vienna. As Chairman of the Association of Austrian chemist, he in office from 1904 until 1929. He was instrumental in the development of the theory of the rate of chemical reactions, the reaction kinetics with. He was buried at the cemetery in a Grinzinger honorary dedicated grave (Group 12, Series 4, No. 4).
