Rudolf Weyr

Rudolf Weyr, from 14 May 1911 Rudolf Ritter von Weyr ( born March 22, 1847 in Vienna, † October 30, 1914 ) was an Austrian sculptor. He is regarded as the representative of Neo-Baroque, and as one of the most important artists of the Ringstrasse era.

After studying with Franz Bauer and Joseph Cesar he was a long time employee in the latter. From the 1880s, working alone, he created the sculptural features of some important Ringstrasse. Weyr was a member of the fraternity Olympia and uncle of the graphic artist and author Siegfried Weyr.

Rudolf Ritter von Weyr suffered in his later years to atherosclerosis; on 30 October 1914, he died of a occurred in the course of pneumonia paralysis of the heart. He was (according to their preference) on the Döblinger cemetery buried (Group 9, No. 5).
